Pop-Rock Singing Coach to the Broadway Stars - Sheri Sanders says:
If you have an audition for a part that requires you sing a particular high note, Sheri says if you can normally sing that high note, then go for it if it happens to be in the song you audition with. But, if you don't have it in your audition song, you don't need to add it in, or stress about it. If they need to hear that note they will vocalize you. On the other hand, if you can't really sing that high, it is best to audition with your song and then let the auditors know that you can work to get that high note if they need to hear it for the role. The key is honesty. Honesty goes a long way in earning the respect of the auditors
-- Editors note: Respectful, honest behavior is always beneficial in the room..As you look through the SBPro videos, you will notice a running theme among those involved in casting: relationships and respect are as important as talent.
